School is starting, but the Summer heat is still here

August 18th, 2010 • By: james Uncategorized

We have made it through another blistering Summer. Cleaning carpets in  the South Georgia heat can be very trying at times, but we have a great customer base and are very grateful for their support .

The key to cleaning in the deep south , and particularly Brunswick and Saint Simons area is to keep hydrated, and to eat lightly during working hours.  While cleaning carpets or upholstery, extra dry strokes can greatly reduce drying times, even in the most humid environments.

Why should you clean your carpet ?

When you first purchased your home , you made one of the most important investments  you can make . You decided it was important to provide your family with  a home that was comfortable ,  that would last for many years , and one that would increase in value  as the years went by .  You wanted a safe home that you could raise your children , and you would be proud of.

Just as painting the outside is important in protecting  your home from the elements , taking care of the inside ,in particularly the carpets , isn’t just about appearance sake .  Cleaning your carpet on a regular basis can also  remove  dirt and sand  that can prematurely wear your carpets.   It can also improve your indoor air quality .

Proper carpet cleaning always starts with thorough vacuuming .  Vacuuming removes the loose soil , dander and dust  that gets tracked in and can by carried throughout your home via your central  air systems .  This is a step of preventative care that will prevent buildup of dirt and grit  and keep your carpets in good  , maintained condition .

Carpet cleaning  should be scheduled  every 6 to 12 months , depending on  the amount of traffic.  Oily spots can be removed with proper spotters , and soiling can be removed with proper detergents.  Color loss associated with bleaches or harsh cleaning agents can most of the times be corrected and matched up to the correct shade and color.

One important thing to remember is , don’t wait until the carpets looks soiled ,it can be holding up to 3 pounds of dirt per square yard , which can put extreme wear on your carpet .  So schedule timely cleanings, and vacuum regularly .

Carpet Installation

April 3rd, 2010 • By: james Uncategorized

Are you wondering why after only 1 year there are wrinkles all through your carpets ?  Chances are that  your installer did not install your carpet up to standards set for the carpet installation industry.

All carpet should be installed with a power stretcher . A knee kicker is mainly used for small areas that a power stretcher cant get into , like a closet or a small hallway. If your carpet was installed with just a knee kicker , it could also void your carpets warranty . So if your installer gets out the truck with  just a knee kicker , send him packing if he doesn’t have the required tools.

So you spilled a drink on your carpet ? Don’t panic , we can help you help yourself .  The first step is to use  a towel to blot up as much liquid as possible.  Once you are sure you have removed as much as possible ,  you go to step 2.

Step two is very important. Most folks will grab any kind of cleaner from under the sink. STOP! You want to use the safest , mildest detergent available, and whats more gentle than what you put your hands into every time you wash your dishes ? That’s right , dish washing detergent.  Put a few drops on a clean , damp rag and then work it into the remaining spot.Never put any detergent directly on the spot , because you will put too much down and it is very difficult to remove all the cleaner.  Don’t scrub , gently work in until the spot disappears.  Go on to step 3 .

Now its time to remove the excess detergent we used to clean the spot. Failure to remove the excess detergent will result in left over residue that will attract more soil and cause the spot to reappear . Use a damp rag and try to blot up as much of the detergent as possible. Repeat until it feels like it is all gone.   Take a dry rag place it over the clean spot , blot again , and you are all done !
